John Dorner, PhD, Coordinator of Creation Care Ministry , encourages and supports the education of the faith community regarding the moral imperative for all to serve as Stewards of Creation. He assists parishes in the implementation of ecological initiatives, both at the church and in homes. He serves as liaison with Catholic schools and Catholic and interfaith organizations in the promotion of ecological responsibility, support for the poor, and a healthy planet for our children and future generations.

Care for God’s Creation – A Guide for Parishes
Parishes have an important role to play in promoting ecological conversion. The Archdiocese of Ottawa has prepared a practical guide for parishes in response to Pope Francis’ encyclical on the environment - Laudato Si’ – On Care for Our Common Home. We are called to environmental responsibility and as people of faith, we lead by example.
Protecting Creation – Pope Francis Appeals to Local Churches:
On Feb.1, 2017 Pope Francis appealed to local Churches to mobilize for the protection of the planet, responding with determination to the cry of the earth and the cry of the poor. He thanked a delegation of the Global Catholic Climate Movement, of which the Archdiocese of Ottawa is a member, for their “engagement in protecting our common home, in these times of grave socio-environmental crisis. -
