MARCH 25TH WHITE MASS IN SUPPORT OF CATHOLIC HEALTH CARE PRACTITIONERS: On the Solemnity of the Annunciation of the Lord, Archbishop Prendergast invites everyone to join Catholic health care practitioners at a special Mass honouring their work in health care and praying for their freedom of conscience. A bilingual Mass will be celebrated at Notre Dame Cathedral at 10:30 a.m. with Archbishop Prendergast presiding joined by Archbishop Lépine of Montreal and his seminarians. Coffee will follow. All are encouraged to attend this celebration and to pray with and for our Catholic health care practitioners.
“MAN OF THE SHROUD” EXHIBIT: At St. Isidore Church, Kanata, April 4-11. Life-sized authentic reproduction of the “Shroud of Turin” and 30+ display panels citing historical, scientific and theological information about The Shroud. PRAYERS: For the repose of the soul of Fr. Michael Gillissie who died Tuesday, March 21. Fr. Gillissie was born August 23, 1941, ordained to the priesthood on May 2, 1987 and exercised parish ministry at St. George, St. Martin de Porres, St. Philip (Richmond) and St. Clare (Dwyer Hill). He served as Diocesan Spiritual Director to the Catholic Women’s League, taught high school, and served as religious instructor for the Commission scolaire régionale de l’Outaouais for 17 years. He was also president of the English Catholic Teachers Association for two years. The Funeral Mass will be at St. Philip Parish, Richmond on Mon., Mar. 27, 11:00 a.m. A reception will follow in the Parish Hall. As Fr. Gillissie was a member of the St. Joseph Ecclesiastical Society of Ottawa, members are asked to offer a Mass for the repose of his soul. Please remember him and his family in your prayers.
PRAYERS: For the repose of the soul of Fr. Lucien Charbonneau, who died March 15, 2017 at the age of 88. Born June 21, 1928 in Lefaivre, Ontario, he was ordained a Priest on June 17, 1954. Fr. Charbonneau served as vicar and pastor of many parishes in the Archdiocese of Ottawa. He was Diocesan Director of the Lacordaire and chaplain to The Daughters of Isabella and the Knights of Columbus. The Funeral Mass was held on March 20, 2017 at St-Thomas Church, Lefaivre. Please remember him and his family in your prayers.

EARTH HOUR THIS SATURDAY: Earth Hour (www.earthhour.org) takes place on Sat., Mar. 25, 8:30 - 9:30 p.m. Record breaking temperatures in 2016 signal an increased need for urgent international action on climate change. St. Peter Basilica in the Vatican has joined “Earth Hour” by going dark for the hour. In support, the Archdiocese of Ottawa has once again registered as a participant in Earth Hour.
